Signal improvements planned at two locations on the Belt Highway next week

St. Joseph, Mo. – Signal improvements will impact two intersections on U.S. Route 169 (Belt Highway) next week.

Tuesday, June 8 – work to the video detection system at Belt Highway and Cook Road during daylight hours.

While crews are working on the detection camera on the east side of the intersection, the following will not be allowed (estimated to take place sometime between 8 and 11 a.m.):

• Southbound left-turn from the Belt Highway to Cook Road

• Crossing the Belt Highway eastbound on Cook

While crews are working on the detection camera on the west side of the intersection, the following will not be allowed (estimated to take place sometime between 8 and 11 a.m.):

• Northbound left-turn from the Belt Highway to Cook Road

• Crossing the Belt Highway westbound on Cook

Thursday, June 10 – Installation of a new signal cabinet, new detection equipment, and flashing yellow arrow signals for north/south traffic on U.S. Route 169 (Belt Highway) at Beck Road. The signals for east/west traffic on Beck Road will remain the same.

This will be night work from 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, through 7 a.m. on Friday, June 11. Single-lane closures and turning restrictions may be in place at the intersection while work is ongoing. It may also be necessary to turn off the power at the intersection for brief periods of time. During signal power outages, drivers should treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
