Northbound Interstate 29 to close for emergency repairs next week

St. Joseph, Mo. – Emergency roadway repairs will close a section of southbound Interstate 29 in Andrew County overnight next week. Contractors from Capital Paving and Construction, LLC., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, plan to close I-29 to northbound traffic at the U.S. Route 71 and I-229 interchange from 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, through 6 a.m. Thursday, June 3, to complete a concrete roadway patch.

The closure will occur within the work zone of the Route T bridge project where traffic is being directed head-to-head in the southbound lanes.

During the closure, northbound traffic will be directed onto U.S. Route 71 (Exit 56A), to U.S. Route 59 until they reconnect with I-29 (Exit 65). Motorists will not be able to access northbound I-29 from the northbound I-229 or southbound U.S. Route 71 ramps.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state. The project is currently scheduled to be completed in September 2021.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
