TRAFFIC ALERT: New Traffic Pattern Coming to I-49 Between Mile Markers 70 & 74 Beginning June 4

What: Traffic will shift to one lane in each direction in the northbound lanes of I-49 between mile markers 70 and 74 in Barton County (30th Road and Missouri Route 126) south of Lamar

When: Beginning Friday, June 4 and remaining in this pattern until early-December

Traffic Impacts:

  • Traffic reduced to one lane in each direction and moved to northbound lanes of I-49 between mile markers 70 and 74
  • Speed limit reduced to 60 mph through work zone
  • Expect delays during high-traffic volume times
  • Drivers are urged to consider alternate routes during the project

Weather and/or unforeseen delays will alter the work schedule.

Project Background: Contractor crews are replacing the southbound I-49 bridge over North Fork Spring in Barton County south of Lamar. This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
