MACON – Montgomery County Route J at Clear Creek, located 2.5 miles west of Missouri Route 19 near Big Spring, is now back open to traffic. The bridge closed in April for rehabilitation. E & C Bridge, LLC, of Jamestown, Missouri, completed the project.
The bridge was originally built in 1962 and while rest of the bridge was in reasonably good condition, the deck had significant deterioration. “The bridge deck was completely replaced and is now 22 feet wide, two feet wider than before,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Erik Maninga. Guardrail was also added for safety.
This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
