Update on Route O in Warren County

HANNIBAL – Missouri Department of Transportation crews continue to dig out the poor areas and place rock on Route O in Warren County in preparation for some temporary asphalt repairs over these sections.  “Weather permitting, we anticipate starting that work next week,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga.  He stressed that the asphalt repairs will be rough since there are trucks still hauling material on this route.  “After this is area is finished, we plan to go back to the middle of Route O and start digging out sections that have failed and fill then with rock between Stracks Church Road and Spring Valley Road,” he explained.

“There are up to 25 additional sections of the road that will need to be dug out and filled with rock,” Maninga added.  “This is all temporary work until the majority of the trucks hauling material on this route are done, and at that time, we will work on a more permanent solution to improving the road,” he said.

The speed limit remains 35 mph, and signs indicating rough road ahead and road work ahead are prevalent throughout the area.  Motorists are asked to please slow down and use caution on this road.
