MoDOT Seeks Public Comment on Project That Will Temporarily Detour the Katy Trail near Rocheport

HOWARD COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) seeks public comment on impacts to the Katy Trail when a project starts in 2022 to replace the U.S. Route 40 bridge over the Katy Trail and Salt Creek in Howard County.

Due to safety concerns, the Katy Trail will be temporarily detoured between County Road 457 and the Katy Trail pedestrian bridge. Signs and fencing will be installed to guide trail users over the detour route.

The trail detour could last up to 6 months between March and December 2022. More information about the detour timeline will be announced closer to the start date of the road project.

Individuals and organizations wishing to comment on the project and its impacts to the trail may submit them to MoDOT’s Central District at modot.org/HowardBooneBridgeReplacements.

The online public comment period is open through Friday, June 4.
