Traffic Alert: Route YY will be closed at Interstate 70 for bridge replacement beginning May 24

SALINE COUNTY –Route YY will be closed at Interstate 70 beginning May 24 through mid-November 2021 for bridge removal and replacement.

This project will also include the following traffic implications:

  • Ramps at the I-70 and and YY interchange will be closed during the bridge removal from 9 a.m. Monday, May 24 to 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 26.

  • I-70 will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the YY interchange from 9 a.m. Monday, May 24 to 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 26. The one lane of I-70 traffic will be routed on the Route YY on and off ramps. During this time, I-70 traffic will not be able to access Route YY and Route YY traffic will not be able to access I-70.

  • There will be periodic lane closures on I-70 near the interchange from May 24 through mid-November 2021.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
