Bridge Projects on U.S. Route 54 and Audrain County Route J Awarded by Commission

MACON – The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract to Emery Sapp & Sons, of Columbia, Missouri, for two bridge projects. One is a deck replacement on U.S. Route 54 over West Fork Cuivre River, located one mile east of Audrain County Route B. The second project is a bridge replacement on Audrain County J at Middle Lick Creek, located 1.2 miles west of Missouri Route 19. The contract was awarded in the amount of $1,554,626.

“Both of these bridges are a little over 60 years old and have faced a lot of deterioration over the years,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. “We are glad it is now time to complete these projects.”

Traffic will remain open to one lane on U.S. 54 with temporary traffic signals being used to guide motorists through the work zone, and Route J will close while the work is completed. The work could begin as early as this summer and be completed by fall.

These bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

“A more specific schedule on this project will be shared once the contractor provides the plan for completing the work,” Untiedt said.
