Improvements Approved for Interstate 70 Bridges in Boone County

JEFFERSON CITY - Rehabilitation of the Interstate 70 bridges over Perche Creek in Boone County have been approved by the Highways and Transportation Commission.

During their meeting on Wednesday, the commissioners awarded the project to Emery Sapp and Sons, Inc., which submitted the low bid of $2,439,558.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of the bridges, located west of Columbia. Interstate 70 will be open to traffic, but there will be various lane closures and a temporary barrier wall will be in place. Only one bridge will be under construction at a time. The I-70 eastbound on-ramp from the Midway/Route UU interchange will be closed during the rehabilitation of the eastbound bridge. Midway/Route UU traffic will be detoured to the Route O/J interchange to access eastbound I-70.

This project is scheduled to begin in the spring and is expected to be complete by December. Prior to work starting, MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.

These bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
