JACKSON COUNTY– Due to inclement weather, MoDOT Kansas City has rescheduled its plans regarding signage work along portions of U.S. 71 and Interstate 49 beginning. The work has shifted back one day and the correct dates are as follows. This work will require various lane and ramp closures. All work is weather permitting.
Tuesday, May 4
- Crews will close the middle lane of northbound U.S. 71 at Hickman Mills Dr. as well as one lane of the exit ramp from northbound U.S. 71 to Hickman Mills Dr. beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, until approximately 5:30 a.m. the following morning.
- Crews will close the left lane of both northbound and southbound U.S. 71 just south of Linwood Blvd. beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, until approximately 5:30 a.m. the following morning.
Wednesday, May 5
- Crews will be conducting shoulder work along southbound U.S. 71 just south of 39th St., southbound U.S. 71 just north of 57th St., and southbound U.S. 71 at the 85th and 87th St. exit ramps, beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning. This work may require various lane closures in the area.
- Crews will close the left lane of both northbound and southbound I-49 just south of the Main St. exit ramp beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, until approximately 6 a.m. the following morning.
Thursday, May 6
- Crews will close the shoulder of southbound I-49 just south of 155th St., southbound I-49 just north of 163rd St., northbound I-49 just south of Belton, northbound I-49 just south of MO Route 58, and northbound I-49 near 163rd St. beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, until 6 a.m. the following morning.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
