Ramp from 8th and 9th streets onto U.S. Route 36 now open

St. Joseph, Mo. – After weather delays extended the closure of the ramp from 8th and 9th streets to westbound U.S. Route 36 longer than originally planned, the ramp is now open to traffic.

A second ramp, from 9th Street to eastbound U.S. Route 36, is scheduled to close Monday, May 3 and will remain closed around-the-clock through Friday, May 14. Motorists must use an alternate route during the closure.

Both ramp closures are part of an ongoing construction project to repair and resurface U.S. Route 36 between the Missouri River and 0.75 miles east of Route AC, which is being led by contractors from Magruder Paving, LLC.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

As part of National Work Zone Awareness Week, MoDOT is asking drivers to work with us this construction season. Always buckle up and keep your phone down, and slow down and move over in work zones. Know before you go, and check what work zones you might encounter at traveler.modot.org.

Also at modot.org, sign up online for work zone updates. Information is also available 24/7 at 888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636) or via social media.
