Media Alert: Work Zone Awareness Week

MEDIA ALERT

St. Joseph, Mo. – With many roadway maintenance and construction projects already underway, the Missouri Department of Transportation is asking drivers to work with us this construction season. Always buckle up and keep your phone down, and slow down and move over in work zones. Know before you go, and check what work zones you might encounter at traveler.modot.org.

We are asking our media partners to help us promote roadway and work zone safety during National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 26 – 30. On Monday, April 26, at 9 a.m. a virtual news conference will take place on the Missouri Department of Transportation Facebook page. Northwest District Engineer Chris Redline will also be available throughout the week for pre-scheduled one-on-one interviews.

In addition, all media are invited to wear Orange for Safety on Wednesday, April 28, in support of all roadway workers and to help raise awareness of the importance of work zone, and roadway safety.

Who:    Interview with MoDOT’s Northwest District Engineer Chris Redline regarding work zone safety via phone or video conference in adherence to social distancing guidelines.

When:  Call 816-901-4529 or email nwcr@modot.mo.gov to pre-schedule an interview for the week of April 26 – 30.
