Holt County Route B to close soon as part of bridge deck replacement project

St. Joseph, Mo. – A bridge deck replacement project will soon close the bridge over Interstate 29 on Holt County Route B. Crews from Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., contracted by the Missouri Department of Transportation, began shoulder repairs on I-29 under the Route B bridge this week to prepare for traffic shifts as part of the deck removal and replacement.  This project is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

On Monday, April 19, following the shoulder work, the contractor will close the bridge on Route B to all traffic. The closure is expected to continue through July 2021. Motorists will be directed over a signed detour on U.S. Route 59 and Route 120.

Throughout both the shoulder work and the bridge deck replacement, one lane of I-29 may be closed in each direction with a 12-foot width restriction. Delays should be expected in this area.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. Motorist are urged to slow down, eliminate distractions, pay attention to all roadway signing and to never drive around barricades.
