I-49 in McDonald County Scheduled for Resurfacing Beginning the Week of April 12

McDonald County – Drivers can expect lane closures and occasional traffic delays on a four-mile stretch of I-49 in McDonald County for a resurfacing project beginning the week of April 12, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will work during daytime hours to resurface I-49 between McDonald County Route EE and Goodin Hollow Road in Pineville. Crews will also resurface interchange ramps at routes EE and H. In addition to a new driving surface, the highway will receive edge line rumble strips and new guardrail in areas.

Traffic Impacts:

  • I-49 traffic reduced to one lane where crews are working
  • Drivers should obey flaggers guiding motorists through the work zone
  • Drivers should use caution when traveling through the work zone and watch for crews and equipment working close to traffic
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Drivers are urged to find alternate routes around the work zone

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

Project information:

  • Prime contractor: APAC-Central Inc., Springfield
  • Total project cost: $1.6 million
  • Completion date: November 1, 2021
