Update on Repair of Route O in Warren County

Drivers encouraged to obey 35 mph speed limit, watch for crews working

HANNIBAL – Due to a deteriorating road surface, Route O in Warren County, between Route M south to Missouri Route 47 at Marthasville, remains closed to through traffic until further notice.  “We have one or two crews every day working to get sections of the road dug out and filled with rock and anticipate having the upper end of the road done next week, weather permitting,” said Missouri Department of Transportation District Engineer Paula Gough.  “For our crews’ safety, drivers’ safety, and to help keep the integrity of the road as it exists, it is imperative all drivers obey the 35 mile per hour speed limit,” she added.

When the work on the upper end of Route O is completed, crews will move to south of Strack’s Church Road toward MO 47. “We are making slow and steady progress,” Gough noted.

More than 20 “Rough Road” signs have been installed along the 10-mile stretch of road, and within the next few weeks, “Loose Gravel” signs will be installed.  There are also several “35 mph Speed Limit” signs posted and barricade board signs "Road Closed Local Traffic Only" at each end of Route O.
