St. Joseph, Mo – Intersection improvements will narrow Nodaway County U.S. Route 71 and close Icon Road at the intersection, located just north of Maryville, beginning today. Contractors, working with Northwest Missouri State University, will begin a project this afternoon to improve the intersection of U.S. Route 71 and Icon Road and add a turn lane as part of the construction project for the new Agricultural Learning Center (ALC) at the R.T. Wright Farm. The improvements are expected to be complete in 60 days.
A temporary signal will be in place to direct traffic through the work zone. Motorists traveling on U.S. Route 71 should expect delays and will need to seek an alternate route if trying to go north or south. A 12-foot width restriction is in place.
Drivers should stay alert and obey all traffic signs, barricades and flaggers to safely navigate through the work zone.
All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones and to not move or drive around barricades.
