Holt County Route B bridge deck replacement project to begin soon

St. Joseph, Mo. – The bridge over Interstate 29 on Holt County Route B, near Oregon, will close soon for a bridge deck replacement project. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to replace the bridge’s deck. This project is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

Crews will begin with shoulder work on I-29 between Exits 67 and 75 the week of April 5. Throughout both the shoulder work and the bridge deck replacement, one lane of I-29 may be closed in each direction with a 12-foot width restriction. Motorists should expect delays.

On Monday, April 19, following the shoulder work, the contractor will close the bridge on Route B to all traffic. The closure is expected to continue through July 2021. Motorists will be directed over a signed detour on U.S. Route 59 and Route 120.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. Motorist are urged to slow down, eliminate distractions, pay attention to all roadway signing and to never drive around barricades.
