DeKalb County Route 33 paving project to begin soon

St. Joseph, Mo. – A paving project is set to begin April 5 on DeKalb County Route 33 between Maysville and Osborn. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to a complete level-course treatment between Route 6 and U.S. Route 36.

The contractor plans to begin on Monday, April 5, with repair work near U.S. Route 36, then complete approximately 11 days of paving. Crews plan to pave the southbound lane first, beginning in Maysville, then complete the northbound lane. Additional work on shoulders, rumble strips and striping will follow. The project is expected to be complete by the beginning of May.

Route 33 will remain open through the project, but one lane may be closed in either direction throughout the project limits. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place. Work zones will be active during daylight hours, Monday through Friday. Some work may be done on Saturdays, if needed.

All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled.

Motorist are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades and to eliminate distractions. Crews will be working close to traffic. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
