St. Louis Work Zones for Feb. 25 - Mar. 3

ST. LOUIS – Drivers heading into or out of the city of St. Louis or Illinois should use alternate routes this weekend as crews will close both directions of I-64 between Grand and I-44 to remove a bridge.

Drivers should consider Interstate 44 or Interstate 70 to get to the city.  They may consider Interstate 270 or Interstate 255, as well, to get to Illinois. The work is weather dependent.

Crews will start by closing the ramp from westbound I-64 to Market Street, Exit 38B, at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 25 to stage equipment for demolishing the Ewing bridge.

Crews will start closing ramps in both directions of I-64 between Grand and I-44 starting at 6:30 p.m., including the ramps from Broadway, 10th Street and 14th Street. Crews will start closing lanes in both directions of I-64 at 7 p.m., with all lanes being closed by 8 p.m. for the demolition. Detour routes for the closure will be marked. Eastbound drivers will use Market/Bernard, Jefferson, Cass and I-70 to detour. Westbound drivers will use I-44, Jefferson and Market as detours.

Interstate lanes as well as entrance and exit ramps, including the Market Street exit (Exit 34B) are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, March 1. One eastbound lane between Compton and Ewing will remain closed until late July when Ewing reopens.

Also, drivers who regularly use Dunn Road along I-270 should be aware that crews will close the eastbound lane of Dunn Road between Graham and Washington, beginning Monday, March 1 until Fall. During the closure, crews will convert this portion of Dunn Road to westbound traffic only.  In addition, the westbound I-270 exit to New Florissant Road will close permanently.

Detour routes for the closure will be marked. Drivers on the outer roads can use Pershall to travel eastbound from Hanley to Elizabeth to turn around and continue on westbound Dunn Road.

Westbound I-270 traffic wanting to access New Florissant Road will have to exit at Washington/Elizabeth and take westbound Dunn to New Florissant Road.
