Microsurfacing Project for U.S 63 in Adair and Macon Counties Awarded by Commission

MACON – The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract to Asphalt Stone, Co., of Jacksonville, Illinois, for a microsurfacing project for U.S. Route 63 in Adair and Macon Counties. On southbound U.S. 63 the project will run from 1.2 miles south of Adair County Route KK near Milliard to north of LaPlata, for a total of 4.3 miles. On northbound U.S. 63 the project will run from north of LaPlata to 0.5 mile north of Macon County Route DD near Macon, for a total of 16.7 miles. The contract was awarded in the amount of $1,289,499.51.

“With the high traffic volume on U.S. 63, this preventative maintenance treatment will help extend the life of the roadway,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Untiedt.

Traffic will remain open to one lane while this roadwork is completed. The work could begin as early as this spring and be completed by fall.

“A more specific schedule on this project will be shared once the contractor provides the plan for completing the work,” Untiedt said.
