Branson/Hollister, Taney County – Drivers can expect lane closings on U.S. Route 65 bridges over Lake Taneycomo and nearby Branson city parks beginning the week of March 1 for a bridge rehabilitation project, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews plan to remove bad concrete and resurface the southbound bridge as well as make safety improvements to the bridge rail and upgrade the guardrail on each end of the bridge. They will also make repairs underneath the northbound bridge.
Traffic Impacts:
- Route 65 northbound and southbound reduced to one lane across the bridges over Lake Taneycomo where crews are working
- One lane of Route 65 will remain open in each direction during the project with a 15-foot width restriction
- Missouri Route 76/76 Country Boulevard to southbound U.S. Route 65 ramp closed for safety reasons
- Short-term shoulder and lane closures with flaggers on Sunset Road and Wilshire Drive and the walking/biking trails leading to the Sunset and Alexander city parks at times underneath the bridge for safety reasons
- Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas
- Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
- Drivers should look for alternate route
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
