St. Louis Work Zones for February 18 - 24

ST. LOUIS – Cold temperatures and wintry weather have delayed several planned traffic shifts and closures over the past month.

As temperatures start to warm, this work has been rescheduled, but all plans are still contingent upon weather .

Currently, all lanes on eastbound Interstate 70 before the Mississippi River are closed due to needed repairs for an expansion joint. The cold temperatures have significantly impacted completing that repair, and the interstate could remain closed into early next week until the repair is complete and the roadway is once again safe to travel on.

A scheduled traffic shift on westbound I-44 is set to take place starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, weather permitting. Crews will move two westbound lanes of I-44 and the ramp lane from northbound I-270 to westbound I-44 onto the new westbound I-44 bridge. Crews will close up to two lanes at a time on westbound I-44 to make the switch.  The shift should be completed by 6 a.m. Wednesday, February 24.

After the shift, drivers on westbound I-44 and the ramp from northbound I-270 to westbound I-44 will not be able to access the exit at Soccer Park until mid-March while crews complete connections to westbound I-44. Drivers on the ramp from southbound I-270 to westbound I-44 will remain on the old westbound bridge during this time and will be able to exit at Soccer Park.

Crews have delayed a full interstate closure on I-64 to remove the Ewing Bridge until after eastbound I-70 at the Mississippi River reopens. Currently that full I-64 closure, between Grand and  I-44, is set to start at 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 26, with all lanes reopened by 5 a.m. Monday, March 1.

In addition, motorists should continue to use caution while travelling throughout the region as crews will be on the roadways cleaning up after on-going winter weather. If you see flashing lights ahead of you, please slow down and move over to help keep yourself, other drivers and crews on the roadway safe.
