AMAZONIA, Mo. – Construction is wrapping up for the season on a set of Interstate 29 bridge projects in Andrew County north of St. Joseph. This project includes the completed rehabilitation of the north and southbound I-29 bridges over Route T and replacmeent of the bridges over Hopkins Creek. Crews completed the southbound Hopkins Creek Bridge replacement in early October and are scheduled to being construction of the northbound bridge in the spring of 2021.
The replacement and rehab are being led by contractors from Capital Paving and Construction, LLC., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation. These bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state. Crews are following the planned schedule below:
- Completed – median crossover construction and replacement of the southbound bridge over Hopkins Creek and rehab of the southbound bridge over Route T.
- Completed - rehab of the northbound bridge over Route T. Traffic has been restored to two lanes in both north and southbound directions.
- Completed - pavement repairs on northbound I-29 and temporary deck repairs on the northbound bridge over Hopkins Creek.
- April 2021 – crossovers will once again be utilized to direct traffic head-to-head in the southbound lanes. Construction will begin on the replacement of the northbound I-29 bridge over Hopkins Creek.
- September 2021 – work on the northbound Hopkins Creek Bridge will be complete, median crossovers are removed, and shoulder work completed. Intermittent lane closures are possible.
All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change. Motorists are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades and to eliminate distractions.
