KC Scout Adds Cameras to Clay and Platte County Highways & Interstates

KC Scout has added several new traffic cameras to highways and interstates north of the Missouri River. Motorists will see them in Clay County along U.S. 169, Interstate 435, I-35, and I-29. In Platte County, they are along I-635 and I-29. These new devices will allow KC Scout and the traveling public to view areas that were previously unavailable to view. The cameras show live video of the routes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed by visiting www.kcscout.net. They are also available by downloading our free smartphone app from Google Play and Apple’s App Store. The new cameras are the latest addition to KC Scout’s overall system of cameras and Dynamic Message Signs.

The KC Scout Traffic Management Team uses the system to help reduce traffic snarls. The public can use it to scout their route or view road conditions before getting on the road. Community members can also sign up for MyKCScout web alerts at https://www.mykcscout.com/ to set their own traffic alerts and choose to receive them via email, text message, and/or Twitter. The alerts can include snapshot pictures from KC Scout’s cameras including, but not limited to, those in Clay and Platte Counties, when there are major incidents on highways and interstates.

KC Scout is Kansas City’s bi-state traffic management system, jointly operated and funded by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), designed to lesson traffic jams by improving rush-hour speeds, increasing safety by decreasing the number of rush-hour accidents, and improving emergency response to traffic situations by clearing incidents quickly and safety. Scout manages traffic on thousands of miles of continuous freeways in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, as well as in Kansas and Missouri.
