Interstate 70 Pavement Repair Project to Begin Monday

BOONE COUNTY – A pavement repair project beginning on Monday will impact evening and overnight traffic along Interstate 70 in mid-Missouri over the next several weeks.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will be making improvements to the I-70 driving surface in Cooper, Boone, and Callaway Counties. Work is scheduled to begin on westbound lanes in Boone County on Monday, December 7 near the Route O & Route J intersection. Once work is finished at that location, crews plan to address westbound lanes between Rangeline Street and the Route 63 connector in Columbia. Both locations are expected to be complete by the end of the week.

This work will require individual lane closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.. Signs will guide motorists through work zones. Drivers are advised to use extra caution through work zones, obey all traffic signs and avoid any distractions.

MoDOT will alert travelers to additional upcoming closure locations through news releases, social media channels and the traveler information map. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
