Bridge On Governor's Program Opens Ahead of Schedule

HANNIBAL- Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, travelers in Pike County will be enjoying the ride across another new bridge. Today, Wednesday, November 18, the bridge located on Route C over Crooked Branch, 2 miles west of Route E near Frankford, opened to traffic.

“While the bridge has been closed for replacement since late August, mild weather has contributed to the completion of this project ahead of schedule,” stated Brian Untiedt, Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer.

The contract for this project also included two additional bridge replacements located on Route U, over Peno Creek, located one mile west of U.S. Route 61 near Bowling Green and on Route U (Old U.S. Route 61) 0.2 miles west of U.S. Route 61 near Bowling Green. The Peno Creek bridge on Route U was completed mid-summer while the second bridge, located on Route U (Old U.S. Route 61), was completed in late September.  The contract was awarded earlier this year to Bleigh Construction Company of Hannibal, Missouri who submitted the low bid of $1,897,582.  These bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
