CHILLICOTHE, Mo. – The first of two Livingston County bridge closures near Chillicothe is planned to begin just after midnight tonight. Both the Grand River Bridge on U.S. Route 65 and the Thompson River Bridge on Route 190 will close this week for several days.
The Grand River Bridge on U.S. Route 65 will close for the second of two scheduled bridge deck pours Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 12:01 a.m. The closure will continue through Sunday, Nov. 8, at noon. Crews had originally planned to reopen the roadway on Saturday but will leave the road closed to allow for extra concrete cure time. When the bridge reopens, it will again be open to only one lane, with a 11.5-foot width restriction in place.
During the closure, all traffic will be directed over a signed detour route on Routes Z, C, DD, D and U.S. Route 36. Route C between Route DD and U.S. Route 36 will be closed to all but local traffic – those living and/or working along that section of Route C – during the U.S. Route 65 detour.
The Thompson River Bridge on Route 190 will close for the second of its two scheduled bridge deck pours Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. This closure will also continue through Sunday, Nov. 8, at noon. When the bridge reopens, it will again be open to only one lane, with a 10-foot width restriction in place.
During the closure, all traffic will be directed over a signed detour route on Routes 190, U.S. Route 65 and Route 6 through Jamesport and Trenton.
The Grand River Bridge project is led by contractors from Radmacher Brothers Excavating Co. The Thompson River Bridge project is led by contractors from Comanche Construction, Inc. These bridge deck replacement projects are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
Additional work will be needed before the projects are complete. Contractors plan to have the bridges open to two-way traffic in early December. As with all construction, work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive alive. Drivers are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades.
