Bridge Repair Work to Begin Monday in Fulton

FULTON – Motorists are being asked to watch for lane closures on U.S. Route 54 as repair work begins on a bridge in Fulton that was recently struck and damaged on two occasions earlier this year.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin making girder repairs on the Callaway County Route F bridge over Route 54 on Monday, October 26. Daily individual lane closures will be required on eastbound Route 54 near the bridge. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, November 20.

This bridge was struck by oversized loads twice in 2020. Once in February and again in April. These repairs will restore a damaged beam that was bent several inches out of place by these collisions.

Signs are in place to alert motorists of the lane closures. Motorists are asked to plan extra travel time, slow down, watch for crews and put away distractions in work zones.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
