Interstate ramp traffic to be affected by Belt Highway paving at south U.S. Route 169

Paving reaches halfway point

St. JOSEPH, Mo. – A paving project on U.S. Route 169 (Belt Highway) will restrict turning for one night on the ramp from southbound Interstate 29 to U.S. Route 169 (Exit 44). The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Herzog Contracting Corp. to resurface the Belt from Interstate 29 (at Exit 50) to Route FF and Route 6 (Frederick Boulevard) between the Belt Highway and I-29

In order to safely pave the northbound inside (left) lane of the Belt Highway in that area, only right turns will be permitted from southbound I-29 onto U.S. Route 169 tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 7 p.m. through 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.

Crews plan to pave from Leonard Road to Faraon Street overnight tonight, as weather allows.

Paving operations are being conducted at night, in order to reduce the impact to drivers and businesses in the project area, however, at times, some intersection and interchanges will be closed, or have turning restricted in order to safely complete the project.

Crews will work with all businesses with entrances within the project limits to minimize the impact on business traffic. Motorists may notice delays.

For more information about this project, motorists can visit https://www.modot.org/buchanan-county-us-route-169-belt-highway-resurfacing to see the progress completed so far and the plan for the next night of work.

The project has passed the halfway mark and is expected to finish in early November.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive alive. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades.
