Callaway County Bridge Rehabilitation to Begin Friday

CALLAWAY COUNTY – Motorists are being asked to watch for lane closures on U.S. Route 54 as work begins on an interchange south of New Bloomfield.

As part of a larger preventative maintenance bridge project in Cole and Callaway Counties, the Route AE/TT bridge over Route 54 will undergo deck repairs. The bridge will be closed to traffic while work takes place, as well as various individual lane closures on Route 54. The Missouri Department of Transportation says the Route 54 ramps will remain open and drivers can use interchanges east and west of the work zone as detours.

A contractor working for MoDOT plans to begin work on Friday, October 9 and is scheduled to have the bridge open by Monday, October 19.

Signs are in place to alert motorists of the bridge and possible lane closures. Motorists are asked to slow down, watch for crews and put away distractions in work zones.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
