Callaway County Route D Bridge is Now Open to Traffic

CALLAWAY COUNTY – After months of construction, the new Callaway County Route D bridge over Interstate 70 is now open to traffic.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation replaced the previous bridge and made roadway improvements at various locations along the north outer road of I-70 near the bridge. Route D has been closed at this location throughout construction. Multiple lane closures at various times on I-70 also took place as part of the building process.

MoDOT says this bridge replacement is representative of an overall effort to maintain and repair bridges across the state.

“The Route D bridge is vital to connecting the community, especially the local farmers. It’s very important that we are able to make the necessary repairs to bridges in poor condition when we can preserve them, or as in this case, replace them in order to maintain our state’s infrastructure,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Kirsten Munck.

This bridge was included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
