Traffic Alert: Expect ramp closures at I-29 & 64th St. in Platte County

PLATTE COUNTY – Crews will make the following traffic changes as part of a road realignment improvement project at I-29 and 64th St. in Platte County. All work is weather dependent.

Crews will close both the southbound I-29 exit and entrance ramps at 64th St (Route 45), beginning at 7:00 a.m. until approximately noon Monday, Oct. 5 for signal cabinet work

Crews will reopen the southbound exit ramp at its new location, which was the old Prairie View Rd. once the signal cabinet work is completed

The southbound on-ramp will remain closed for approximately 10-14 days for additional improvement work, and to realign it to it new location, the old Prairie View Rd.

This is all part of a KCMO road realignment project, which includes the addition of a new roundabout, connecting to N. Chatham Ave., additional streetlights, new sidewalks, water main relocation, and traffic signal adjustments.

The goal of the project is to reduce congestion, improve traffic flow, improve safety and improve roadway connectivity.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
