Resurfacing project nearing completion on Interstate 29 in Buchanan County

Both daytime and nighttime work scheduled this week

St. Joseph, Mo. – Crews are wrapping up a resurfacing project on Intertate 29 this week. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Herzog Contracting Corp. to resurface I-29 from just south of Route O to the Platte County line. Only shoulder paving, pavement marking and rumble strip installation remain. All work is planned to be complete by Friday, Oct. 2.

Shoulder paving will begin tonight, Monday, Sept. 28. The shoulder work is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning for three to four nights. The driving (right) lane will be closed around the shoulder paving to allow crews to work safely. One lane in each direction is expected to remain open throughout the project with a 12-foot width restriction.

Following the shoulder paving, crews will stripe and install rumble strips throughout the project limits. The striping and rumble strip work will be conducted during daylight hours Thursday, Oct. 1 and Friday, Oct. 2. One lane will be closed around the rumble strip operation.

All work is weather-permitting and schedules, including the completion date, are subject to change.

Motorist are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades and to eliminate distractions. Crews will be working close to traffic. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
