MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: Bridge Sealing Project To CLOSE U.S. Route 60/65 Interchange Ramp

Where/When:

• Southbound Route 65-to-westbound Route 60 ramp in southeast Springfield CLOSED
  • Detour: Southbound Route 65 to Evans Road interchange to northbound Route 65 to westbound Route 60
  • Work hours: 8 p.m. Friday, September 18, until as late as 6 a.m. Monday, September 21
• Westbound Route 60 bridge right and center lanes closed over the railroad tracks in southeast Springfield
  • Work hours: 8 p.m. Friday, September 18, until as late as 6 a.m. Monday, September 21

• Northbound U.S. Route 65 left and center lanes closed at bridge over U.S. Route 60 in southeast Springfield
  • Work hours: 8 p.m. Friday, September 18, until as late as 6 a.m. Monday, September 21

What: Contractor crews cleaning and sealing bridge deck/driving surfaces on Route 60/65 Interchange ramp, Route 60 bridge and Route 65 bridge in southeast Springfield

Traffic Impacts:

• Southbound Route 65-to-westbound Route 60 ramp CLOSED
• Westbound Route 60 right and center lanes closed
• Northbound Route 65 left and center lanes closed
• DELAYS EXPECTED WHERE LANES ARE CLOSED. DRIVERS ARE URGED TO FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES.
• Ramp and Lanes will remain closed ‘round the clock to allow sealing material to cure properly
• Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers to any changes in the work schedule
• Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Details: The work is a preventative maintenance measure aimed at extending the life of the bridge. The work was originally scheduled to begin the end of August. However, rain caused contractor crews to delay the projects.
