Route J over Crooked River Bridge project adjust work schedule

RAY COUNTY – After careful consideration, the Missouri Department of Transportation has rescheduled the Route J over Crooked River Bridge rehabilitation project in Ray County. It was determined the rehab work would impact the fall harvest season, which would have adverse effects on local farmers and grain elevator operations, who heavily rely on Route J.

The following information is the newly projected work schedule.

Crews will close Route J between Shotwell Rd. and Missouri River Rd. beginning November 10 and will continue until spring of 2021 for bridge rehab work. Motorists should follow the posted detour, which will be on Route 13 and Route 10.

The work will consist of removing and replacing the existing bridge deck and improving approaches. All work is weather dependent.

This bridge project is included in Governor Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
