JEFFERSON CITY – Starting next week, a contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin the rehabilitation of a bridge in Jefferson City that will impact local traffic.
As part of a larger preventative maintenance bridge project in Cole and Callaway Counties, the West Main Street bridge, over U.S. Route 54, will be receiving a new deck surface treatment and upgraded signal detection. Work will begin on Monday, September 14 and is expected to take up to six weeks to complete.
In order to perform the bridge and signal work, various lane closures will be required on West Main Street, Route 54 and the West McCarty Street on-ramp. Signs will be in place to alert motorists of the lane closures. Motorists are asked to slow down, watch for crews and put away distractions in work zones.
Once the West Main Street bridge work has been completed, crews will then begin rehabilitating the Route AE bridge over Route 54 and the Missouri Route 94 bridge over Little Tavern Creek in Callaway County. More information will be shared when start dates are established.
