Weather delays intersection improvement project in Liberty, MO

CLAY COUNTY – Due to inclement weather, the Missouri Department of Transportation has rescheduled an upcoming intersection improvement project in Liberty, MO.

Crews will now close the southbound left turn from 291 Highway to Leonard St. and the southbound left turn lane from Leonard St. to 291 Highway southbound, beginning Monday, Sept. 21 and continuing until Monday, Sept. 28. These closures will be 24/7.

Originally, this work was scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14 through Monday, Sept. 21. All work is weather dependent.

Crews will remove the median island and the sewer drain beneath it. That section will then be paved over.

Motorists on 291 will still have access to Leonard Street using the right turn on NB 291. Motorists on Leonard Street will still be able to access 291 NB using the right turn lane on Leonard Street SB.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
