TRAFFIC ALERT: UPDATE -- DELAYS EXPECTED On U.S. Route 65 Bridge

over U.S. Route 60 in Springfield Tuesday-Thursday, September 8-10

(Note to editors: This traffic alert updates the time of Tuesday’s closure)

Where: Northbound U.S. Route 65 left lane closed at bridge over U.S. Route 60 in southeast Springfield

When: 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, until as late as 8 p.m. Thursday, September 10

What: Contractor crews cleaning and sealing bridge deck/driving surfaces on northbound U.S. Route 65 bridge over U.S. Route 60.

Traffic Impacts:

  • DELAYS EXPECTED WHERE LANE IS CLOSED. DRIVERS ARE URGED TO FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES.
  • Lane will remain closed ‘round the clock to allow sealing material to cure properly
  • Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers to any changes in the work schedule
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Details: The work is a preventative maintenance measure aimed at extending the life of the bridge. The work was originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 1. However, rain caused contractor crews to delay the projects by one week.
