MoDOT Releases Details Regarding Callaway County Route O Bridge Rehabilitation

CALLAWAY COUNTY – Information regarding a Callaway County bridge rehabilitation, which will impact local traffic in 2021, is now available and MoDOT is inviting nearby residents and travelers to share their thoughts.

The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to replace the deck and upgrade guardrail on the Callaway County Route O bridge over Auxvasse Creek, southeast of Fulton, next year. The existing bridge was built in 1967 and the driving surface has reached a point where rehabilitation is necessary. The new bridge deck will be two feet wider which will improve motorists’ safety when crossing the bridge.

While work is taking place, Route O will be closed to traffic for up to three and a half months. MoDOT will announce the closure when a timeline has been established and signs will be installed to alert motorists ahead of time. A detour route will be established during construction.

The project will be completed by a contractor for MoDOT and is scheduled to be awarded in the fall of 2020. Construction is expected to take place in 2021.
