St. Joseph, Mo. – Mainline paving on a portion of Interstate 29 in southern Buchanan County is scheduled to begin after the Labor Day holiday. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Herzog Contracting Corp. to resurface I-29 from just south of Route O to the Platte County line.
Longitudinal and full lane-width patching operations are planned first, beginning Monday, Aug. 31. Following the patching, crews will move immediately to the full overlay of the roadway. All patching and paving work is expected to be complete by Sept. 19.
Crews are scheduled to work nightly, Sunday through Saturday, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. Currently, no work is planned for Saturday night into Sunday morning.
One lane in each direction is expected to remain open throughout the project with a 12-foot width restriction.
All work is weather-permitting and schedules are subject to change.
Motorist are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades and to eliminate distractions. Crews will be working close to traffic. Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
