Update for Week of August 31 - Route 160 Widening Willard to Springfield

UPCOMING TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGES BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2:

  • Greene County Farm Road 94 northeast of U.S. Route 160 OPEN
  • Greene County Farm Road 94 southwest of U.S. Route 160 CLOSED for up to 35 days
  • Temporary traffic signal at U.S. Route 160 and Green County Farm Road 94
  • Greene County Farm Road 115 at U.S. Route 160 CLOSED for up to 60 days
  • South Quarry Road at U.S. Route 160 CLOSED permanently

Work Scheduled:  

  • Pouring concrete for curb and gutter at Route 160 and Farm Road 94 for new roundabout
  • Repairing bridge deck at Route 160 and Farm Road 94
  • Grading and laying base rock for new highway lanes north of Farm Road 94
  • Paving new highway lanes between Farm Road 94 and Jackson Street
  • Paving existing lanes and installing barrier wall at Route 160 near Farm Road 115
  • Grading and laying base rock and paving new highway lanes south of Farm Road 115
  • Paving shoulders on Route 160 in various locations
  • Resurfacing existing lanes between Greene County Route AB and Hunt Road/Farm Road 103 during nighttime hours
  • Moving rock/dirt in areas between Farm Road 94 and Farm Road 123

Traffic Impacts:  

  • ROADS CLOSED:
    • Farm Road 94 northeast of Route 160 is CLOSED until Wednesday, September 2, to build new roundabout
    • Farm Road 94 southwest of Route 160 CLOSED up to 35 days to build new roundabout
    • Farm Road 115 at Route 160 CLOSED for up to 60 days to pave lanes and install barrier wall
    • South Quarry Road at Route 160 CLOSED permanently
  • NIGHT WORK: One-lane traffic with flaggers directing drivers through the work zone on Route 160 between Route AB and Hunt Road/Farm Road 103. Work hours: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday-Friday
  • Temporary traffic signal at Route 160 and Farm Road 94
  • New roundabouts OPEN on Route 160 at Jackson Street and at Hunt Road/Farm Road 103
  • Short-term traffic stops on Route 160 near Hunt Road/Farm Road 103 to allow equipment to cross the road
  • Equipment crossing county farm roads at times. Short-term traffic stops by flaggers to allow equipment to cross the road.
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic
  • Crews may work Saturdays and Sundays to make up work missed due to weather/construction delays

Project Summary:

  • Widen Route 160 to four lanes between I-44 in Springfield and Jackson Street in Willard
  • Resurface the existing lanes of Route 160 between I-44 in Springfield and Route AB in Willard
  • Install concrete traffic barrier between lanes in areas
  • Add a pedestrian underpass underneath Route 160 at Hunt Road
  • Add a new box culvert to carry Frisco Highline Trail underneath Route 160 at Trail Mile 3
  • Add street lighting at intersections
  • Intersection improvements:
    • J-turn at Farm Road 123/Westgate Avenue
    • Right-in/Right-out at Haseltine Road (Farm Road 115)
    • Roundabout at Farm Road 94 near quarry
    • Add left-turn lane at Hughes Road
    • Roundabout at Farm Road 103/Melville Road/Hunt Road
    • Roundabout at Jackson Street
    • Add turn lanes at Greene County Route AB
  • Prime Contractor: APAC-Central, Springfield
  • Completion Date: December 1, 2020
  • Total Project Cost: $18.6 million
