MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: Bridge Sealing Project To CLOSE Three Interchange Ramps

At and Near the U.S. Route 60/65 Interchange in Springfield

What: Contractor crews cleaning and sealing bridge deck/driving surfaces on U.S. 60 bridges at the railroad tracks west of Route 65. Lane closings on Route 60 will require interchange ramp closings for safety reasons.

Where/When:

  • Glenstone Avenue ramp to eastbound Route 60 (ramp located on east side of Glenstone/Route 60 interchange near Nature Center Way) in southeast Springfield CLOSED
    • Work hours: 7 a.m. Thursday, August 27, until as late as 8 p.m. Friday, August 28.
  • Southbound Route 65-to-westbound Route 60 ramp in southeast Springfield CLOSED
    • Work hours: 8 p.m. Friday, August 28, until as late as 6 a.m. Monday, August 31
    • Detour: Southbound Route 65 to Evans Road interchange to northbound Route 65 to westbound Route 60
  • Northbound Route 65-to-westbound Route 60 flyover ramp in southeast Springfield CLOSED
    • Work hours: 12 noon Saturday, August 29, until as late as 6 a.m. Monday, August 31
    • Detour: Northbound Route 65 to Battlefield Road interchange to southbound Route 65 to westbound Route 60

 

Traffic Impacts:

  • ‘Round the clock lane closings where bridges are being sealed. It will be necessary to leave lanes closed for an extended period to allow sealing material to cure properly.
  • DELAYS CAN BE EXPECTED WHERE LANES ARE CLOSED. DRIVERS ARE URGED TO FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES.
  • Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers to any changes in the work schedule
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Details: The work is a preventative maintenance measure aimed at extending the life of the bridges.
