Wyaconda River Bridge on Scotland County Route C Available for Reuse

MACON – The Wyaconda River Bridge, located 6.6 miles northwest of Memphis on Scotland County Route C, will be impacted by highway improvements in the future, and because it is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, local governments, historical societies or other interested groups may have the opportunity to obtain the bridge for adaptive reuse purposes.

Tyler Holladay, historic preservation specialist at the Missouri Department of Transportation, said the bridge was built in 1936 by Vaughn Construction Company. The bridge is 174 feet with a 120-foot six-panel, rigid-connected Pratt through truss with a wide-flange girder approach span on the south end. A flyer with details about the bridge is attached to this news release.

MoDOT’s Historic Preservation Section is now accepting proposals for the relocation and reuse of the bridge or its components until Feb. 1, 2021. More information about this bridge, and proposal guidance, may be found online at http://www.modot.org/freebridges/.
