Holt County U.S. Route 159 Penny Slu Bridge now open

MOUND CITY, Mo. – The Holt County U.S. Route 159 bridge over Penny Slu, west of Route 111 near Fortescue, is now open. Contractors from Boone Construction Co., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, began a project to replace the bridge deck in mid-June and reopened the bridge to traffic this afternoon.

After more than a year of following detours, the reopening of the Penny Slu Bridge means motorists can now utilize U.S. Route 159 to travel from Interstate 29 to Rulo, NE. Due to damaged sustained during the 2019 Flooding and planned improvement projects, the roadway had been closed in several locations through the past year.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.
