Newton Co. Rt. CC CLOSED at Lost Creek Near Racine For Culvert Replacement Beginning Week of Aug. 24

Newton County – Newton County Route CC south of Racine will CLOSE for up to 60 days beginning the week of August 24, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will replace an old culvert that carries Lost Creek under the roadway with a new structure on Route CC approximately a half mile south of Racine.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Route CC CLOSED over Lost Creek
  • Drivers will have access to entrances on either side of the culvert, but will not be able to travel through the work zone
  • Drivers will be directed to use signed detour along Newton County Route K, Missouri Route 43 and U.S. Route 60
  • Drivers are encouraged to find alternate route to avoid work zone
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

Project background:

  • Prime Contractor: Bennett Inc., Lamar
  • Completion Date: December 1, 2020 (however, the contractor expects to be finished by early November)
  • Total project cost: $357,000
