ST. LOUIS – Drivers heading downtown this weekend should avoid I-64 or allow themselves extra time as crews will close the interstate between the Mississippi River and Jefferson Avenue.
Crews will start closing the interstate in both directions at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 14 to remove the Pine Street bridge over the interstate. All lanes will be closed by 8 p.m.
The detours, some of which are on city streets, will be marked. Since much of the detour is on city streets, drivers are encouraged to slow down and maintain the posted speed limit through the work zone and on the city streets.
All I-64 lanes are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, August 17.
