Lane Closures Scheduled at I-70 and I-435 on Aug. 10

JACKSON COUNTY– The Missouri Department of Transportation will have various lane closures along both east and westbound I-70 at I-435 on Monday, Aug. 10 for construction at the I-70 and I-435 interchange. Motorists should expect delays in the areas. All work is weather permitting.

  • A lane of westbound I-70 will be closed at I-435 for barrier construction on Monday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m.
  • A lane of eastbound I-70 will be closed at I-435 for pavement construction OVERNIGHT on Monday, Aug. 10 from 7 p.m. until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning.

Crews recently opened the new southbound I-435 ramp to eastbound I-70, as well as the new northbound I-435 ramp to westbound I-70. Construction is still in progress for the I-70 loop ramps and the northbound I-435 bridges over I-70. This project began construction in spring 2019 and while the majority of construction is scheduled to be completed by this fall, motorists can expect to see various lane closures in the area through Dec. 2020. Project improvements include full bridge replacements, removal of left exits, improvements to loop ramp configuration, and congestion relief. Please be patient and considerate to your fellow motorists. Use the zipper merge and take turns at merge points.  Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE ZONES. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
