MoDOT Releases Details Regarding 2021 First Creek Bridge Replacement

GASCONADE COUNTY – Information regarding a Gasconade County bridge replacement is now available and MoDOT is inviting nearby residents and travelers to share their thoughts.

The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to replace the Gasconade County Route J bridge over First Creek next year. The bridge is located between Route 100 and Route F, south of the city of Gasconade.

The existing First Creek bridge was built in 1938 and has reached a point of needing replacement. The new bridge deck’s driving surface will be two feet wider, which will improve safety for travelers.

While work is taking place, Route J will be closed at the bridge for up to three months. MoDOT will alert travelers of the closure once a start date is established. Motorists will need to use an alternate route

The project will be completed by a contractor for MoDOT and is scheduled to be opened to bids in late 2020. Construction is expected to take place in 2021.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

Motorists and area residents may ask questions or provide feedback and comments on this project by visiting www.modot.org/FirstCreekBridgeReplacement. The online public comment period is open through August 21.
