Update for Week of August 10 - Route 160 Widening Willard to Springfield

UPCOMING TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGES:

  • New roundabout at U.S. Route 160 and Jackson Street in Willard scheduled to OPEN Tuesday, August 11
  • Greene County Farm Road 115 at U.S. Route 160 near Willard scheduled to CLOSE Tuesday, August 11 for several weeks

Work Scheduled:  

  • Paving Route 160 and Jackson Street for new roundabout
  • Installing permanent signals at Route 160 and Greene County Route AB
  • Repairing concrete pavement on Route 160 between Greene County Route AB and Jackson Street
  • Grading and laying base rock for new highway lanes between Farm Road 115 and Farm Road 94
  • Moving rock/dirt in areas between Farm Road 115 and Farm Road 123

 Traffic Impacts:  

  • EARLY HEADS UP:
    • New roundabout at Route 160 and Jackson Street scheduled to OPEN Tuesday, August 11, as a single lane roundabout
    • Farm Road 115 at Route 160 scheduled to CLOSE Tuesday, August 11, for several weeks to build new lanes of Route 160 through the intersection
  • One-lane traffic with flaggers directing drivers through the work zone on Route 160 between Route AB and Jackson Street for pavement repairs. Work hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Traffic shifted to new lanes of Route 160 between Hunt Road and Jackson Street to allow crews to pavement repairs to existing roadway
  • Short-term traffic stops on Route 160 near Hunt Road/Farm Road 103 to allow equipment to cross the road
  • Route 160 traffic shifted to the west at Hunt Road/Farm Road 103
  • Equipment crossing county farm roads at times. Short-term traffic stops by flaggers to allow equipment to cross the road.
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic
  • Crews may work Saturdays and Sundays to make up work missed due to weather/construction delays

Project Summary:

  • Widen Route 160 to four lanes between I-44 in Springfield and Jackson Street in Willard
  • Resurface the existing lanes of Route 160 between I-44 in Springfield and Route AB in Willard
  • Install concrete traffic barrier between lanes in areas
  • Add a pedestrian underpass underneath Route 160 at Hunt Road
  • Add a new box culvert to carry Frisco Highline Trail underneath Route 160 at Trail Mile 3
  • Add street lighting at intersections
  • Intersection improvements:
    • J-turn at Farm Road 123/Westgate Avenue
    • Right-in/Right-out at Haseltine Road (Farm Road 115)
    • Roundabout at Farm Road 94 near quarry
    • Add left-turn lane at Hughes Road
    • Roundabout at Farm Road 103/Melville Road/Hunt Road
    • Roundabout at Jackson Street
    • Add turn lanes at Greene County Route AB
  • Prime Contractor: APAC-Central, Springfield
  • Completion Date: December 1, 2020
  • Total Project Cost: $18.6 million
