I-70 Lanes to Close as Part of Callaway County Bridge Replacement

CALLAWAY COUNTY – Overnight travelers using Interstate 70 next week could experience lane closures as crews install girders for the new bridge on Route D over the interstate.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin individual I-70 lane closures on Tuesday, July 28. These closures will take place between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will start in the eastbound lanes and will transition into the westbound lanes as work progresses.

Message boards will be in place alerting motorists of the lane closures. Drivers are asked to slow down, watch for crews and put away distractions in work zones.

The Route D bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state. The project is expected to be completed by October.

This work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
